So you think being a college student with a 4.0 GPA will help you get a seasonal summer job? WRONG! ...well at least for me.
I worked for a certain company (no names mentioned) for four years throughout my high school career. I worked nights, weekends, and holidays. You name it, I worked it. After my four years of service it was time for me to go off to college. I signed a paper stating that I would return the following summer as a full time seasonal employee. The year passed and i received a 4.0 GPA. However when it was time to return to work for the summer they generously appologized and said..."we CAN'T take you back." Apparantley they had hired too many employees over the span of that year and had no room for a DEDICATED long time employee like myself. Well of course I was upset...not so much about the job itself but about the absence of a paycheck. College kids work all summer and save (or try to save) all their money for the school year when it's harder to work. I JUST WANTED TO GET PAID!!
Well this story has a good ending. It turns out that summer I got a much better job with double the hourly pay rate!

Hopefully that doesn't happen to me! I am in the same boat as you are! Good thing you found another job that even paid you more to last you through the summer!
That's great, when one door closes another opens. Same thing happened to a friend of mine except the part with getting a new job =P
That is awful that they did that to you. I would think since you signed something they would have to take you back. I guess it worked out better for you anyway.
that stinks that they could not take you back since you were such a hard working dedicated employee. The ending, however, WAS a happy one! that's great that you found a better paying job for the summer. i think a lot of college students can relate to needing a paycheck to save money! i am one of them!!
Something similar happened to me for the exact same reason. I honestly don't know how some people are put in charge of hiring and scheduling when they don't know how to do it. Oh well, at least it worked out for you in the end.
Well that's a very impressive GPA! That really stinks they did that to you though. Oh well! Everything happens for a reason
